The Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing education, innovation, and responsible stewardship in historic preservation, decorative arts, and historic landscapes. Founded in 1993 by American businessman and philanthropist Richard Hampton Jenrette as the Classical American Homes Preservation Trust (CAHPT), the Jenrette Foundation today works to preserve, protect, and promote public engagement an exemplify stewardship through its grants, education programs, and properties showing the finest architecture, landscape design, and fine and decorative arts of the 19th century. Through strategic professional development initiatives, the Jenrette Foundation supports emerging scholars and practitioners in the preservation field, having awarded more than $3 million since 2022 to over 150 recipients through fellowships, internships, externships, and educational programs—including the William L. Thompson Collections Fellowship, Jenrette Fellowships and Internships in Historic Preservation, and externships in the private sector and cultural sector, with additional funding planned to further expand its impact.
